Google My Business Insights Updates Analytics While Dropping Google+ Source Data

Google has announced that, updating the Google My Business Insights feature, where owners of business can view analytic around how people find and interact with their Google local listings.

The interesting thing the new features include a breakdown of how many people are seeing your listings from Google Search versus Google Maps. Here is a screen shot showing you how the Insights section plots that data:-


In this you check how users found your listing — either through a direct click or search, which they call “discovery.” Direct means customer finds your listing searching for your business name or address. Discovery means when a customer finds your listing by searching for a category, product or service.

First Appearance of Ads in Local Pack Found In UK Mobile Search Result

Google confirmed that ads it would be appearing in Local Pack. At the time, it wasn’t clear when this would roll out or weather the ad would replace one of the listings or become a fourth position in the pack. However, Ryan Scollon yesterday spotted a Local Pack with three organic listings and one ad at the top in a UK mobile search:-

Google App Now Delivering Restaurant Reviews &Best-of lists For Local Searches

Official: Facebook Launches New Layout For Pages

Facebook are official announced that new ad-free pages on Facebook. In fact, if you’ve navigated to a brand page on Facebook. The brand pages focus on brands and puts ads on the sidelines. The new layout is very clean and gives the brand a little more prominence.

A spokesperson from Facebook said, “We’ve introduced a new design of Facebook pages to make it easier for people to learn about and interact with businesses on Facebook and also including a new column for tab navigation and a more prominent call-to-action button.”


Tab navigation is another part of this update and it has been observed in the past how difficult it is to access content across brand pages. With the cover image on the right and logo on the left side, brands can upload cover images without pulling their hair out over layout issues.

AMP Breaks Out Of News Into The Main Google Search Results

Google is taking Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) beyond the “Top Stories” and into the main organic mobile search results. Today Google has announced a developer preview with a general Google.com roll out to follow in the near future.


That means mobile users will soon start to content in search results with the AMP lightning bolt logo, which indicate the content is available in the mobile format – comparable to “mobile friendly”. Google’s VP of Engineering David Besbris told that the AMP pages will not receive a ranking boost, but in past Google has suggested load time of page speed are (or will become) mobile ranking factors. Besbris explained, however, that where there are two identical pages that is one AMP and one mobile-friendly, Google will serve the AMP page.
Google is hoping to rectify that and expose more people to AMP and its benefits are the following:-

•    AMP pages are 4x faster, use 10x less data compared to non-AMP pages
•    On average AMP pages load in less than one second
•    90 percent of AMP publishers experience higher CTRs
•    80 percent of AMP publishers experience higher ad viewability rates

New Google Help Document Defines Search Analytics Impressions, Position and Clicks

Google has released a new help document that defines search analytic impression, position and clicks. It defines the metrics which used on the Google Search Analytics report that webmasters can find within the Google Search Console.

Specifically, it aims to represent a three core metrics used on the report that is impressions, position and clicks.

The document even goes through how these metrics change based on the type of result. For example impression for a blue link in the search results and it is counted when the page loads, but not when the user scrolls past the result. Yahoo Testing New Search Bar With Logo On The Right, Not The Left

Less than a week after Verizon announced it will acquire Yahoo, Yahoo is testing a new search bar at the top with a missing logo at the left. Now new interface removes the Yahoo logo from the top left of the screen that makes it a bit smaller so moves it to the right side of the screen. 


With this user interface change, you see a new box at the top right which open up a Yahoo services navigator, Also search button color is also changed, now search button is blue, instead of the Yahoo purple.
